The 4th Grade team shares the story of their two-year journey with text based planning. They discuss the evolution in their planning and instructional approach (developing themes, linking texts, text-dependent questioning), the integration of reading and writing, the changes they see in their students and advice for other teachers new to text based planning. Garfield’s 4th Grade completed the 2014-2015 schoolyear an average of 15% above the 100+ schools in their network on ANet ELA interim assessments (data included in video).
