Overview
Our vision for equitable instruction in literacy centers on maximizing the use of a highly-aligned curriculum so that all students are provided with:
- ongoing, coherent learning experiences that build knowledge of words and the world to build student agency and ability to effect change in the world.
- engagement in culturally relevant, complex text and grade-level texts/questions/tasks.
- a majority of time spent reading/writing/speaking about appropriately complex texts.
The protocol below is designed to help educators understand and internalize any ELA curriculum and make smart decisions about how to adapt it for their students.
